Black holes and their horizons in semiclassical and modified theories of gravity

چکیده
For distant observers, black holes are trapped spacetime domains bounded by apparent horizons. We review properties of the near-horizon geometry emphasizing consequences two common implicit assumptions semiclassical physics. The first is a consequence cosmic censorship conjecture, namely, that curvature scalars finite at second horizons form in asymptotic time (i.e. according to observers), property implicitly assumed conventional descriptions hole formation and evaporation. Taking these as only requirements within framework, we find spherical symmetry classes dynamic solutions admissible, both describing evaporating expanding white holes. their present implications. null energy condition violated vicinity outer horizon satisfied inner apparent/anti-trapping horizon. Apparent anti-trapping timelike surfaces intermediately singular behavior, which manifests itself negative density firewalls. These other also axially symmetric solutions. Different generalizations surface gravity spacetimes discordant do not match results. conclude discussing signatures models implications for identification observed ultra-compact objects.

Zero temperature black holes in semiclassical gravity
The semiclassical Einstein equations are solved to first order in ǫ = h̄/M for the case of an extreme or nearly extreme Reissner-Nordström black hole perturbed by the vacuum stress-energy of quantized free fields. It is shown that, for realistic fields of spin 0, 1/2, or 1, any zero temperature black hole solution to the equations must have an event horizon at rh < |Q|, with Q the charge of the ...
متن کاملBlack Holes, Cosmological Solutions, Future Singularities, and Their Thermodynamical Properties in Modified Gravity Theories
Along this review, we focus on the study of several properties of modified gravity theories, in particular on black-hole solutions and its comparison with those solutions in General Relativity, and on Friedmann–Lemaı̂tre–Robertson–Walker metrics. The thermodynamical properties of fourth order gravity theories are also a subject of this investigation with special attention on local and global sta...
متن کاملConstraints on Black Holes in Classical and Semiclassical Theories of Gravity
Constraints on the geometry of a static spherically symmetric black hole are obtained by requiring the spacetime curvature to be analytic at the event horizon. For a zero temperature black hole further constraints are obtained by also requiring that the semiclassical trace equation be satisfied when conformally invariant fields are present. It is found that zero temperature black holes whose si...
متن کاملZero and near-zero temperature black holes in semiclassical gravity
The semiclassical Einstein equations are solved to first order in ǫ = h̄/M for the case of an extreme or nearly extreme Reissner-Nordström black hole perturbed by the vacuum stress-energy of quantized free fields. It is shown that the perturbed solution at first order is not unique; there exists a sequence of solutions with varying values of the position of the event horizon, rh. The smaller the...
متن کاملBlack holes, entropies, and semiclassical spacetime in quantum gravity
We present a coherent picture of the quantum mechanics of black holes. The picture does not require the introduction of any drastically new physical effect beyond what is already known; it arises mostly from synthesizing and (re)interpreting existing results in appropriate manners. We identify the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy as the entropy associated with coarse-graining performed to obtain semi...
